Located just a short walk to the beach in the Torquay area of Hervey Bay, it's surrounded by restaurants, bars, shopping, and more. The vibe here is quiet and clean, but also social, and they describe themselves as "an escape from the party circuit."

The family that owns and runs the hostel also lives on the premises, and so they take pride in their hostel as well as the service they provide. They not only keep the facilities clean and comfortable, but they also take good care of their guests, making sure everyone is safe and comfortable, and they provide great advice for traveling in the area as well as all around Australia.

The Aussie Woolshed has dorms of varying sizes, plus private rooms both with and without ensuite bathrooms. A female-only dorm option is also available. The entire place is like a series of cabin-like buildings which surround a beautiful outdoor courtyard and garden area, complete with hammocks, picnic tables, ponds, local wildlife and birds, and more. Some of the buildings also have nice balconies for relaxing and admiring the greenery. The common areas are cozy and nice, featuring an all-wooden common area and a fully stocked kitchen for those wishing to self-cater. This slick and modern hostel has nicely appointed, clean rooms and a great pool area. Located close to the beach in Hervey Bay and near shops, restaurants, and pubs, you can't go wrong here. Various room sizes are available for both the dorms and private rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. An all-female version is also available.

The main common area is a large kitchen with dining tables and an area of sofas with a TV. The kitchen is large and modern, with multiple stoves, ovens, and more. This room, combined with the beautiful pool area out back make the entire vibe of the hostel to be social and fun, where travelers can rest and relax in their rooms but come out for a good time.

The staff is friendly and helpful, and can book tours or activities as well as provide advice. They also can do pickups and drop-offs at the bus station if needed.

Guests who have left reviews state that the hostel is clean, quiet, comfortable, and fun. Although somewhat new, they have received many guests who love this hostel and the owners.
