If you’re a digital nomad, then Bali sure seems like heaven to you. It’s already popular, and it continues to grow in popularity. And trust us, there is a good reason for that.

As a digital nomad, you have the advantage of working from wherever you want to. You travel, have fun and earn money at the same time. Is there anything else you could wish for?

Well, if you’re a travel aficionado, then Bali should be on your must-see list. It offers you the chance to work while being in a magical place, away from home. You get to taste a little bit of the freedom even before finishing your work. In other words, it seems like paradise.

However, everything has its pros and cons. Sure, spoiling yourself with delicious food while working sounds great, but there are some things to consider. For example, a stable Internet connection is needed to be able to work properly. You also need a working place, transportation, and good accommodations.

Still, once you figure everything out, you forget about the cons. Bali has a lot of joy and peace to offer, so why miss the chance?

Now, let’s explore some of the wonderful things Bali has to offer.

Where to Go in Bali

Beautiful Bali keeps gaining popularity. Numerous tourists all over the world hear about its magical places and head there. Although all you can think about is sunbathing or enjoying some fresh air, remember that you have to work as well! So, before choosing the destination, keep in mind that you need a good Internet connection.

The most popular destination is Ubud. It’s a great place, and its Internet speed has improved considerably over time. It has places where you can work, such as Lazy Cats Cafe, where you can enjoy a good coffee and great Internet connection. Vegetarian café Kismet also offers fast internet, power sockets, and the pleasure of a comfy place. There’s also Sayuri, a raw vegan cafe, that has fast WiFi. So, there are plenty of options to choose from.

However, if you love sunbathing and swimming, Ubud is not a good option as it has no access to the beaches. In your case, Canggu is more appropriate. This wonderful village offers you the chance to go surfing after finishing your daily work.

As for the Internet, you also have some places that offer Wi-Fi connection and allow you to do your job. Sprout and Dojo Bali are two of the co-working places that welcome you with open arms.

Therefore, don’t forget to choose your destination wisely.

Food, Transportation, and Living in Bali

You mustn’t consider that expensive restaurants are going to give you the best experience ever. Indonesians have places named warung, which means “foodcourt’’. These are the best places you could eat at.

As you may have heard, food is delicious in Bali. There is a wide variety of foods you could choose from. Some of them include sambal (chili paste), bebek bengil (crispy duck), nasi goreng (fried rice), bakso (meatball) and many others.

Also, when it comes to transportation, you should know that it is not that expensive. While cabs can be a little pricey, you can always rent a motorcycle. You also have the option of taking a motorcycle taxi or tricycle as local transportation.

As for accommodation, there are many options. A hostel is a very cheap choice. However, if you’re not exactly a noise lover, you could choose a villa instead, as it offers silence and coziness. Villas usually cost around $400-$500 (USD) per month.

When Is It the Right Time to Go to Bali?

You can’t control the weather, but you sure don’t want your holiday to be ruined by it.

In Canggu, the best time to visit is from June to September, as it is the period when most people go there. If you want some silence and a less crowded holiday, you could go during the rainy season as well. It starts in November-December and continues through January, February and March.

The rainy season is known to be warmer though, and it’s the same in Ubud.

What Are Some Fun Activities to Do?

Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

If you enjoy the sun and swimming, you can, of course, go to the beaches in Canggu.

But if you prefer enjoying some good foods or drinks, here are some places that offer them. In Bali, healthy and vegan food is everywhere.

So, these are some places you could visit in Canggu, Bali:

  • Ithaka – for smoothies and salads
  • Peloton Cafe – a great vegan cafe
  • The Shady Shack – veggie food
  • Crate Cafe – a good place for breakfast
  • Warung Varuna – a good choice for cheap and delicious food
  • Warung Bu Mi – another good choice for cheap amazing warung
  • Serenity Alkaline – vegan and veggie food

During the rainy season especially, going to some of these places is a fun and relaxing thing to do. For delivery services during lazy days, check Warung on Wheels.

Thankfully, life in Canggu is pretty quiet, so nightlife is still not a thing there. If you want to enjoy a good place during the night, you can check Pretty Poison. It’s a bar and skate pool where bands perform live music sometimes.

Another popular activity in Canggu is yoga. Many places offer lessons on how to become a yoga teacher yourself, so don’t miss out. You never know when they will come in handy. So, if you want to practice some yoga lessons, try going to Ecosfera, Desa Seni or The Practice.

If you’re near the beach, you might want to try surfing as well, right? In fact, this is one of the activities that made Canggu so famous. You could surf anytime, as the waves seem never to leave. For beginners, Batu Bolong is the best place. You can rent boards for two hours for USD4-USD5. For more advanced surfers, Echo Beach is an excellent choice.

Final Thoughts

As a digital nomad, you can’t always go on vacations as you need a fast Internet connection and a good place to work in. However, Bali is a perfect place, where you can work and have fun at the same time. So, don’t miss the chance! Bali is calling for you!
