Does Your Trip Have A Name?

Travel is a source of inspiration. Being in a new place stirs the emotions and forces the brain to ponder new concepts. So, it’s no surprise that some of our users here at Budget Your Trip have shown us some of their creativity. Sometimes when we travel, we simply refer to our trip as, “that time we went to the beach” or, “summer vacation.” However, every now and then, a trip comes along that deserves something better and bigger. It deserves a real name – a name that stands alone to let the world know that you’re going out there to find something amazing.

We’ve been working hard lately and crunching a lot of numbers. We pulled out the old statistics textbook and studied it thoroughly. We forced the planets to line up, the atoms to quantitate, and our cat to land butter-side up. The end result is a new mathematical and statistical method for calculating the average daily costs here at Budget Your Trip. Now, our travel budget will be more accurate than ever. (more…)

Self Promotion

It’s time for some self promotion. And we’re talking about the promotion of YOU this time. We’ve just rolled out the new profiles here on Budget Your Trip. Now you’ll be able to tell everyone about yourself as well as link to your blog, twitter profile, facebook page, flickr photos, and more. Simply log in and look for the edit link on the upper right area of the page. Here’s an example.

In addition to that, we’ve been working on allowing you to embed many of the charts and graphs from your travel budget onto your own site or blog. We’ve also added some new charts allowing you to break down your budget over various months by category and location.

Finally, we’d like to thank Rove Magazine for mentioning us in Issue 5. While you’re there, take a peak at those great photos from Morocco, too, it’s one of our favorite countries.

Standout: A Free WordPress Theme

We’re happy to announce the release of our first of many free WordPress themes for travel bloggers. The Standout theme is based on the design of BudgetYourTrip.com, so don’t be surprised if you notice some similarities. We’ve spent a lot of time working on Budget Your Trip, and so we decided to give the design away for free in the form of a WordPress theme so that travel bloggers can benefit from our hard work. We put a lot of great features into the theme, including a carousel slideshow, custom social networking links, post title images, and more. (more…)
