The best time to swim at Batemans Bay is toward the end of the summer. Early summer months can still be pretty cool. There's an unexpected warm period often at the end of spring when water temperatures become comfortable. It then cools off again before beginning to warm in the summer.

It's important to swim between the yellow and red flags. These flags are used to designate which areas are currently being patrolled by volunteers. One of the calmest beaches in the area is Broulee South Beach.
