The Musuems at Tikal

The Stelae museum and the Sylvannus G. Morley Museum are the two museums you can visit at Tikal. They're both close to the Visitor Center and offer a good overview before you begin your tour of the sites. Within the Museums, a lot of the signs are in Spanish, so it helps to have a native speaker with you. Both museums help put a background on the places you're about to visit. The Stelae Museum has a good number of stelae that have been discovered on the grounds. There are also some rather worn before and after photos of the ruins when they were first discovered and then today.

The Sylannus G. Morley Museum has a lot of artifacts that have been discovered.There are bones, seashells and ceramics that are the original items discovered here, but there are also recreated jade items.
