There are many reasons to choose the Green Tortoise. It's an excellent value guesthouse that is perfect for backpackers who are on a tight budget. There is free high speed internet in the hotel and you'll be given a free breakfast every morning. Dinners are free as well! Every bed has a locker underneath it and all guests have access to the free sauna. The staff can also give you all kinds of information on the sights around the city. The Green Tortoise prides itself on offering excellent facilities at a bargain price. The hotel is clean, safe, and a great place to meet other travelers. The staff is international and many employees are multi lingual. It's the perfect place to stay during your time in San Francisco.
The hostel also has a family atmosphere where everybody gets to know each other. The staff prides themselves on making sure your visit in the San Francisco is as memorable and enjoyable as it can be. The hostel does not have a curfew so you feel comfortable and right at home with flexible hours. There's a full kitchen you can use and a large room with a pool table, foosball table, a piano and much more. It's a great place to meet and interact with other travelers. All of the rooms are non smoking and every guest has access to their own locker where they can store their valuables.
The hostel is also in an excellent location where it's central to most of the sights and attractions around the city. The neighborhood of North Beach is known as San Francisco's Little Italy, and is the perfect place to begin your exploration of the city.
The hostel is conveniently located near Fisherman's Wharf, Coit Tower, China Town, many interesting local restaurants, public transportation, the San Francisco Bay and more. It's the perfect place to begin your visit to the city.
If you're coming from the San Francisco Airport you can take a shuttle bus. Ask the driver to take you to the Green Tortoise Hostel on Broadway. It should cost $15-$17. You also have the option to take the BART train which will cost a little over five dollars. It takes about half an hour and will require about a mile long walk or you must catch a bus. Alternatively you can take a taxi from the airport which will cost $35.
