This guesthouse is a wonderful option. It is in the Vidigal, which has a wonderful view of Ipanema Beach. It's a wonderful, authentic experience that uses the three bed concept of a guesthouse. It's a pleasant house in a wonderful part of the neighborhood and offers one of the most impressive views in the area. It's only five minutes away from the beach and is in close proximity to everything you could need including public transportation and grocery markets. There are wonderful activities that you can participate in. These include Judo, boxing, and Dju Djitsu, each of which is organized by local volunteers. It's a great way to get involved with this wonderful community. A donation is recommended. You can also volunteer your time to help out as this is always appreciated. Another fun experience is to attend one of the many sunset barbeques. This are often held for tour groups or international travelers. This is a wonderful guest house that offers you a glimpse that the Brazilian culture and welcoming hospitality that is so prominent in this country.
Favela Vidigal Hostel is in a picturesque location in a Favela that looks out on the beaches of Leblon and Ipanema. It's one of the best parts of Rio and is in close proximity to everything you could need. You can reach a beach in only a short walk. There are also many local artists that you can purchase artwork from. There are any number of cultural activities always going on in this area as well.
If you're coming from the international airport you can take a city shuttle for 8R$. Catch a bus to Leblon. From there it is about a kilometer to the door to Vidgal. It'll take you about ten minutes to walk beside the ocean. There's also the option to take another bus onward. From here you can pick up a taxi to Largo do Santinho and then walk for a minute or so to Rua Dr Sobral Pinto.
If that sounds too complicated it's easy to coordinate something in advance with us. For R$70 we can pick you up at the airport if you let us know in advance. If you're by yourself and only have one bag it will cost R$50.
