The Vidigalbergue hostel is on the sea side in Rio, situated between the Leblon and São Conrado neighborhoods in the Favela of Vidgal. It is a safe area and a pleasant place to stay. It's only two kilometers from the Leblon area, which is arguably one of the best neighborhoods in this section of Rio. It is very close to many bars, shops, pharmacies, clubs, and restaurants so there is plenty to do without even having to hop on a bus. It's also only three kilometers from Ipanema and five kilometers from Copacabana, and is also close to any public transit connections you might need.
From the hostel you're provided with a breathtaking view of the surrounding area and the ocean below. You can see a very dramatic sunrise and sunset from this area as well. It is most impressive during the summer months. The hostel is quite peaceful and this is a nice natural pool set amid the rocks in front of the building. You can also access the nearest beach by walking only half a kilometer.
You are provided with a complimentary breakfast which is served to you on the terrace, from which you can take in the wonderful view while you dine. There are also frequent happy hours and parties on the terrace.
You'll have access to a complete kitchen that is fully equipped as well. You can arrange any number of tours through the hostel and take classes in samba, or anything else. There are frequent barbecues, parties, and live music as well.

It's a save area in the Favela of Vidigal in close proximity to many beaches and the Sheraton Hotel.
If you're coming from the Novo Rio bus station you can hire a car or take the bus. You can make arrangements through the hostel and a ride will be waiting for you to escort you to the hotel. You can also take an air conditioned bus which you can pick up in front of the road. It's R$4.00 and take about an hour. They depart every fifteen minutes. You're looking for a red house to get off at.
If you're coming from the international airport you can meet an employee of the hostel at the arrival gate and they will escort you to the hostel. This must be arranged in advance. It's about a half hours drive to the hostel.
The more affordable option is to take the bus. This will take an hour and half. Catch the bus outside of the airport and ask the driver how to get to the address.
