Brazilians are known for their hospitality. It is a Brazilian custom to offer all visitors a cup of strong coffee. This is a sign of welcome in the country, and is something that is of great significances to Brazilians and "Cariocas,” the name given to people from Rio.
Cafe Rio Hostel's goal is to welcome you to this country with that same level of hospitality. It was named after this custom and a warm welcome is offered with every guest arriving. You will be greeted with a cup of fresh coffee on your arrival and you will be sent off with another in farewell.
The hostel strives to reflect those values and the authentic culture that holds true to Brazil.
The Cafe Rio Hostel is in the Laranjeiras district in Rua Alice. It's a very peaceful area with a nice traditional and authentic feel. There are also areas that are nearby with are quite energized and vibrant with many bars and restaurants. You can always be guaranteed good music and shopping in this neighborhood.
If you're coming to the hostel from the internaional airport you can take the Real Auto bus line for R$6.50. It'll take you to Cinelândia Square, which is in downtown Rio, and drop you off in front of a subway station. Catch the subway and head in the zona Sul direction towards Largo do Machado station. You can walk the remaining fifteen minutes to the hostel from there or you can take the bus Integração Metrô, that passes directly in front of the hostel.
If you're coming from Santos Dumont Airport you can take a bus to Cardeal Arcoverde subway station. Catch the train in the Zona Norte direction and go to Largo do Machado station. You again have the option to walk the fifteen minutes to the hostel or catch a bus that will drop you in front of the hostel.
You can also take a taxi which will be more expensive, but also more straightforward and convenient.
