Pai is a small town in the Mae Hong Son Province of Northern Thailand. The town has a beautiful setting in a very picturesque part of the country. Although the town itself is quite small, there has been a tourism boom in recent years and the number of guesthouses, restaurants, and bars has climbed dramatically. The tourists and locals seem to intermingle nicely but the traditional vibe of the town has been lost.
Pai attracts both international and domestic travelers and the guesthouses fill up quickly during the peak season between October and February. Reservations are recommended at least a few months out. There are a range of hostels and budget guesthouses around town. Many have social or party atmospheres while others are smaller with a more traditional and quiet feel.
