This immaculate hostel a few minutes' walk outside of the center of town offers modern and clean facilities, a pool and hot tub, free breakfast, and free soup in the evenings. This hostel resembles a house that has been refurbished into a hostel (in a good way), and offers everything a budget-minded traveler could need or want. They also offer free Wi-Fi. The communal kitchen for self-caterers, along with the morning breakfast and evening soup encourage people to mix and mingle. And so does the large pool and cozy hot tub in the back. Plus, there's a sand volleyball court!
Other standard amenities include lockers, parking, bike rental, TVs, BBQ, a pool table and games, and more.

This relaxing, family-run hostel has a relaxed and chill vibe, and tries to be your home away from home. Free Wi-Fi is on top of the nice list of amenities here. They are located in town, but a few minutes from the center in a quiet neighborhood, close to shopping and dining. Dorms and private rooms are available, as well as an outdoor patio area which is a great spot for socializing, listening to music, and eating free dessert while meeting other travelers.
They have hot showers, lockers, a shared communal kitchen, BBQ, parking, bike rental, tour booking, and more.
Reviewers love the friendly staff, clean facilities, and communal and social nature of the hostel.

Prince Albert is located very close to the center of town, and has a lot of freebies! They have free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and free bike rental for exploring the town. This historic building has been refurbished into a modern and clean hostel, complete with a pub, a beer garden, dorms and private rooms (all with ensuite bathrooms).
Their spacious common room with games such as foosball provides ample opportunities to meet other travelers to plan your adventures in Nelson and beyond. As does their community kitchen for those that wish to cook. If you wish to eat on site, you can as their local restaurant is an English style pub that serves us great meals. Their outdoor terrace area also creates a dynamic social environment during periods of warmer weather.
Guests staying here have given them high marks for cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff, warm heaters, great food, and fun guests.

The Almond House is a locally-owned friendly hostel with a terrific staff that fosters social interaction, offering dorms and private rooms. Just a few minutes' walk outside of the main part of town, this hostel is in a quiet neighborhood. They have comfortable and cozy common areas along with a beautiful kitchen to cook meals. The free Wi-Fi is also a nice bonus to your stay. They also rent bicycles, have a BBQ, laundry, games, and book tours and activities. And at the end of the day, you can relax in their garden in the warmth, or enjoy a log fire in the cooler weather.

Located outside of town, but right near the beach, the Nelson Beach Hostel provides dorms and private rooms along with everything any beach-bound traveler could want. A shared kitchen and comfortable common rooms are only the beginning. Here you can rent paddle boards, try kite-boarding, visit the nearby family fun park, and enjoy the nearby bars and restaurants.
The staff receives positive reviews from guests for their friendliness and for fostering a social vibe. Also, the hostel is kept clean, and many guests claim it is one of the nicest they've visited in New Zealand!
