Part of the Haka Lodge chain, this Taupo establishment is relatively new, offering modern, clean facilities with a fun, social atmosphere right in the center of town. Private rooms with ensuite bathrooms are available, as are dorms of various sizes. Most of the dorm rooms only have 4 or 5 bunks, making for a quiet and comfortable stay. All-female dorms are available as well. Lockers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and clean, modern bathrooms are the key to making guests comfortable, and this hostel does not disappoint. The shared communal kitchen and dining area is also terrific, as is the top floor deck and BBQ area with spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

With an onsite bar, this is a bit of a party hostel at times, as it is also close to all of the bars and restaurants in town. They offer dorms and private rooms at affordable prices. The facilities are clean and modern, and have a lodge feel with wooden beams. The common room is in the middle, leading to a social atmosphere where guests can mingle and plan their activities. The spacious communal kitchen also offers a great place for those who wish to cook the ability to do so and makes for a good social area, too. The bar also has a pool table, cheap drinks, and occasional live music. The onsite restaurant serves up food, too.

Located in a quiet spot at the edge of town, this hostel and hotel combination provides a social and relaxing environment with tons of amenities. It's fairly new, so everything is modern, clean, and shiny! And they are just a short walk to the lake and into town.
With dorm beds and private rooms available, everything is kept clean. Facilities are modern, rooms are nicely decorated, and the prices are affordable. The huge communal kitchen and eating area is available for those that wish to cook their own meals. Internet, laundry, BBQ, TV, and a pool table are also onsite. TVs are also located in almost every room (including dorms).
The place will sometimes fill up with larger group bookings, making it active, but still not loud.
