Part of the Haka Lodge chain, this Taupo establishment is relatively new, offering modern, clean facilities with a fun, social atmosphere right in the center of town. Private rooms with ensuite bathrooms are available, as are dorms of various sizes. Most of the dorm rooms only have 4 or 5 bunks, making for a quiet and comfortable stay. All-female dorms are available as well. Lockers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and clean, modern bathrooms are the key to making guests comfortable, and this hostel does not disappoint. The shared communal kitchen and dining area is also terrific, as is the top floor deck and BBQ area with spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Their staff is friendly and helpful, and can help book trips and transportation for various activities such as the Tongariro Crossing.

This YHA hostel with comfortable beds (real beds, not bunks) receives a large number of positive reviews from guests who like the friendly staff and comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. They offer dorms and private rooms in a range of prices, with and without ensuite bathrooms. Everything is kept clean and the facilities are modern. Balconies have great views of the surrounding mountains, too.
