It’s\na relaxing place where you don’t really need to \u201cdo\u201d anything to have an\namazing time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But\nif you need to know you’re not missing out on the best activities and places to\nvisit on your vacation to Itacar\u00e9, this article is for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1) Go to the beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If\nyou check any list of the \u201cTop 10 places\nto visit in Itacar\u00e9<\/em>\u201d on somewhere like TripAdvisor, odds on what you will\nget back will just be a list of stunningly lovely beaches. There’s a reason for\nthat:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nwhole of Bahia is beautiful beach central. Itacar\u00e9 probably has the pick of the\nbunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\nwon’t want to miss:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resende<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Close\nto the often-overcrowded Praia da Concha (“praia” means beach),\nResende is small but perfectly formed. If you went ahead and drew your perfect\ntropical beach, it would probably look a lot like Resende.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This\nbeach isn’t available at high tide. But if you go down at low tide, you’ll have\nthe perfect place to sunbathe with some handy little food huts selling coconut\nwater, juices, drinks, and tapiocas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiririca<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Tiririca\nis one of the favorites of the local surf crowd. This means it’s often busier\nthan Resende but still absolutely incredible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Itacarezinho<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Quite\ncertainly one of the best beaches in all of Brazil, this 10 Km stretch of white\nand gold sand bordering the Atlantic rainforest is absolutely breathtaking in\nall ways. A 15 minute drive from the town of Itacare, it is worth every effort\nto witness this piece of paradise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) Learn to surf<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Okay,\nthere’s a bit of a theme here. But Itacar\u00e9 is one of Brazil’s surfing hotspots\nand also host to international surfing competitions. If you’ve ever even\nvaguely thought about getting on a board, this is the place to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If\nyou’re already a pro, all you need to do is rent a board and head down to one\nof the better local beaches \u2013 Engenhoca, Jeribuca\u00e7u and Tiririca are highly\nrecommended. But there are a total of four local surf breaks you can reach\nwithout needing a vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If\nyou’re a newbie, you can get lessons at one of the local schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) Visit an ayahuasca retreat<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

4) Go kayaking or boating around the local islands<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Spending\ntime on, in or near the water is definitely one of the best things to do in\nItacar\u00e9. If you fancy going on a little trip, you might try:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Renting a kayak: <\/strong>there\nare a number of water channels through the rainforest where you can rent a\nkayak and paddle along. You’ll often find little food shacks where you can stop\nfor a drink or a bite, while the flora and fauna will keep even the average\nnature lover enthralled.<\/li>
  2. Going on a boat ride: <\/strong>take a trip around the local islands, stop to dive off the boat\ninto the crystal-clear waters or just chill while you have a little tour. The\nBaia de Camamu and Peninsula de Marau have plenty of natural beauty which just\nhas to be seen, though you’ll probably want to head back to Itacar\u00e9 if you want\nsomething to do in the evening.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    5) Try the delicious Bahian cuisine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    After\nall that surfing, kayaking and boating it’ll be time for a break \u2013 and for some\nfood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Luckily,\nItacare \u2013 and indeed the whole of Bahia \u2013 doesn’t disappoint when it comes to\ndinner. Itacar\u00e9 has dozens of restaurants, catering to pretty much any taste\nand dietary preference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    6) Try (or maybe watch!) the capoeira<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    If\nyou’re in a local bar already, take the time to ask where the capoeira can be\nfound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This awesomely athletic cross between martial art and dance<\/a> makes for some great entertainment and can be found at various places in town. Odds are someone at any given bar will know where!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    7) Stay in a pousada<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Pousadas\nare the Itacar\u00e9 equivalent of a bed and breakfast or motel \u2013 if<\/em> motels were beautiful little homes\nwith incredible gardens, sea views, hammocks, balconies and, usually, a great\nlocal breakfast too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    They tend to be very affordable. Worth considering if you’re trying to visit the local area without spending too much money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
