Cheap Alternative Cruise Shore Excursions in Cozumel, Mexico (On Your Own)
Cozumel is a popular place, and the reasons are obvious: beautiful beaches, clear water full of tropical fish, terrific food, friendly locals, and a convenient transportation infrastructure to get you around.

If you're arriving on a cruise, there are so many activities that you'll have a hard time deciding what to do.

Snorkeling is clearly a popular option, especially given that a marine sanctuary sits right off the coast that protects beautiful reefs, thousands of species of tropical fish, and sea turtles.

Or, head inland to see the Mayan ruins, the jungle paradise, and local villages.

Or, do both! Many excursions combine multiple activities so that you get the best of the sea and the land.
Chankanaab Park Cozumel Day pass and Snorkeling package The beach of Chankanab National Park is a very popular option for many reasons. With clear waters that are perfect for snokeling, along with some fun Mayan walking paths, a sea lion show, crocodiles, a dolphin pool, a playground, and several restaurants and bars, this location offers something for everyone. They also have modern bathrooms and shower facilities.

Many cruise ship passengers take a taxi from the cruise port in town for the short ride south to this park area. A taxi will coast around $15 for the trip for the whole car. Combine that with the entrance fee of the park ($23 for adults / $16 for kids), and this trip is relatively cheap as well as fun. You'll also want to add on the cost of lunch in the park (and perhaps beers, too), which can be a little expensive due to the touristy nature of the area.

But here's where the excursion comes in. For essentially the same price as the admission fee and lunch, you get to skip the line at the ticket booth and have a buffet lunch with beer and sodas. Also included is snorkel gear, plus a locker to store your belongings. Your organizer and guide will give you all of the information you need to visit the park and return to your ship on time.
