The city has a well preserved historic center that is one of the area's top tourist attractions. It was actually one of the first UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites in 1978.

Quito is a relatively affordable city to visit and there are plenty of hostels and hotels around. Much of the accommodation is in the new town, which is closer to the area's nightlife.

Hostel Revolution is a friendly, small and chilled backpacker hostel in the historical part of Quito. This hostel was created by Backpackers for Backpackers and provides an excellent base for travellers who would prefer to stay in the Old Centre of Quito. The La Mariscal area (Gringolandia) with its bars and international restaurants is only 10 minutes away by cab or bus. From Hostel Revolution, you can visit Quito's best asset, as all the main sites and attractions are within an easy 20 to 30 minutes walk. The location near Park Alameda also gives clients easy access to the 3 main bus lines. These are the Trole line (green stations), the Ecovia line (red stations) and the Metrobus which runs along Avenida America.

Hotel Revolution has a small capacity of 22 people and is found in a colonial type house with wooden floors and decorative plaster ceilings. There are several common areas, including a comfortable TV lounge with DVDs, a rooftop terrace with tables and a great view, and a bar/common room where you can relax over a few drinks and socialize.

Guests who want to save money and cook their own meals can make use of the fully equipped kitchen. The hostel offers free coffee and tea to all guests. There are two computers with internet access for guest usage and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel. You can choose from a twin private, a double bed private or a 6 bed mixed dorm, all with shared bathrooms. Hostel Revolution does not have 24 hour reception because of its small size and everyone is given the front door key. The earliest check-in is 8h and the latest is 23h.

Dawn's Lodge is a favorite place to stay for travelers to Quito. It was previously called Jumbo Lodging but has changed its name. Ownership has not changed. The hostel is located in the historical center of the city and is near many different sights including the Basilica of the national vote, Itchimba Park, San Fancisco Church, the Church of the Jesus, the Palacio de Carondelet, and National Sucre Theater. It's located in a 200 year old house in the neighborhood of San Blas. It's also a very safe place in a secure building.

The lodge has a variety of amenities for guests. There is 24 hour hot water, a large breakfast with fresh fruit, and nice views of the city. Every room also has its own private bathroom. Laundry, internet, luggage storage, and tourist information is all available to guests. There are twin and double rooms available.

BoutiQuito is also a very secure and safe hostel. It has a large steel door and concrete privacy wall as well as electrical fencing around the perimeter. Despite this intense barrier, the inside is surprisingly warm and welcoming. It's kept clean and comfortable and it's easy to chat with other guests or the staff.
