Tauranga has a lot to offer. This larger city on the east coast of the North Island has a series of terrific beaches as well as shopping and nightlife. This city can make a great place to stop and recharge your batteries if you've been out in the wilderness for awhile, or if you just want to enjoy everything that a city has to offer. With a warmer climate, this city can help anyone relax.

The better hostels in Tauranga are located in the central area of the city, close to shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, this is farther away from the beach, but close to everything else you would want. Day trips out to the beach are quite easy, as are hiking and other excursions outside of town. Most of the hostels mentioned here have great amenities, such as free Wi-Fi, comfortable beds, and modern facilities. But each has its own atmosphere and vibe, so choose wisely!

This centrally located hostel, close to shops, restaurants, bars, and everything else you could need, has recently been taken over by a new owner who aims to improve the facilities and has made good headway. Private rooms and dorms are available, all with shared bathrooms. Female only dorms are available as well.

The communal kitchen is small, but has everything you'd need to cook your own meals. The common area is a great spot to meet and mingle with other travelers. Reviews from previous guests mention that the owner is friendly and helpful, and the staff can also book nearby tours and activities.

Also on offer is free Wi-Fi, full bedding including sheets and duvet cover, laundry, and vending. Give this one a look for sure!
