Tauranga has a lot to offer. This larger city on the east coast of the North Island has a series of terrific beaches as well as shopping and nightlife. This city can make a great place to stop and recharge your batteries if you've been out in the wilderness for awhile, or if you just want to enjoy everything that a city has to offer. With a warmer climate, this city can help anyone relax.

The better hostels in Tauranga are located in the central area of the city, close to shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, this is farther away from the beach, but close to everything else you would want. Day trips out to the beach are quite easy, as are hiking and other excursions outside of town. Most of the hostels mentioned here have great amenities, such as free Wi-Fi, comfortable beds, and modern facilities. But each has its own atmosphere and vibe, so choose wisely!

Located in the central area of Tauranga, this hostel is close to shops, restaurants, and everything else you would need to have a great time. On top of that, this hostel is fairly new, which means that it is clean, modern, and comfortable. The entire place is decorated in a vibrant, fun, and colorful atmosphere which makes your time here enjoyable. Check out the photos!

They offer private rooms as well as dorms (and they have an all-female dorm option). Shared bathrooms are kept clean. The huge communal kitchen has multiple stoves, ovens, and sinks, so it's fully stocked and prepared for all of the guests to prepare their own meals if needed.

Other standard amenities include Wi-Fi, laundry, a great common area, and more.

This hostel has great views of the bay from its rooftop terrace, and is situated right in the central part of Tauranga, close to shops, restaurants, bars, and nightlife. The huge common area with spacious community kitchen open out onto the roomy terrace full of tables and umbrellas. This whole spot makes for a nice area to sit back, unwind, and meet other travelers.

With private rooms and dorms available, both with and without ensuite bathrooms, there is something for everyone. Female only dorms are also available.

Guest reviews like the friendly staff and the amazing view over the harbor from the top-level terrace and adjoining common room. The location is also highly regarded, as is the night security.

This centrally located hostel, close to shops, restaurants, bars, and everything else you could need, has recently been taken over by a new owner who aims to improve the facilities and has made good headway. Private rooms and dorms are available, all with shared bathrooms. Female only dorms are available as well.

The communal kitchen is small, but has everything you'd need to cook your own meals. The common area is a great spot to meet and mingle with other travelers. Reviews from previous guests mention that the owner is friendly and helpful, and the staff can also book nearby tours and activities.

Also on offer is free Wi-Fi, full bedding including sheets and duvet cover, laundry, and vending. Give this one a look for sure!

A relaxing bed and breakfast for couples

This relatively new bed and breakfast is a bit more expensive than most hostels in the area, but worth checking out. They offer free breakfast along with private rooms, each with their own bathroom. They also offer free Wi-Fi, very modern and clean facilities, a great terrace, and they are in a quiet residential neighborhood. This is perfect for any traveler that wants to pamper themselves for a while, no matter their overall budget.
