The Best Hostels in Prague (April 2024)

Hostels for backpackers, solo travelers, couples, families, and groups

Sir Toby's Hostel
Prague is a beautiful city filled with history and architecture. It has long been on the backpacker's circuit, but the days of super cheap accommodation are unfortunately a thing of the past. Still, there are enough hostels around Prague to keep prices in check, and many offer outstanding amenities and a fun atmosphere. So, you can still find a great place at an affordable price.

What does it mean to be "the best hostel"? This really depends on your personality and travel style. For some, it's the cheapest, while others want a party. And for many, it's the one that's in the best location. Below we list the best hostels for a variety of categories, so whatever your preference, you'll find something that's perfect for you.

How much do hostels in Prague cost?

The average price for a dorm bed in a hostel in Prague is $13 (from $5 to $33), and the average price for a double private room at a hostel in Prague is $37 (from $13 to $87). It is possible to find dorm beds for as cheap as $5, however this price varies by the season, location, room size, and quality of the hostel.

You should consider more than just the price of the hostel. Other important factors to think about include:

The Season: prices will vary by season, and summer is the most expensive time of the year. Expect dorm prices to be as much as double the price in the summer than in the off-season.

Location: Prague is an easy city to explore if you pick a hostel that is conveniently located, but if you stay well outside the Old Town and travel in every day, the time and money quickly add up.

Amenities: Many hostels in Prague have great amenities. Free breakfast is a big perk for some. Also consider if you want to book tours through the hostel, socialize in the common rooms, or have a private bathroom attached to your room. Some hostels have on-site bars and others organize pub crawls or other activities that make it easy to meet guests.

Noise: Some hostels are noisier than others, so consider not only the location, but the activities and style of the hostel as this can significantly impact how loud a hostel is.
