Is Prague worth visiting?
Yes, Prague is worth visiting for a number of reasons. This is a city that everyone should explore, and we loved our time here. We first visited in the summer of 2008 and have returned several times. During our time here, we fell in love with its incredibly beautiful old town and rich history.
Whether you're a traveling as a family, a couple, or a backpacker, this city has a lot to offer. Any local will tell you what makes it special is the great museums and attractions and amazing nightlife.
It's often mentioned as one of the best places to visit in major publications, such as in BuzzFeed's Most Under-rated Travel Destinations For 2023.
Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic. It's also the country's cultural and tourism mecca. The city has a world renowned old town that has a beautiful square and many baroque buildings. The old town is filled with Gothic churches and the famous Astronomical Clock, which dates back to medieval times. Through the area is the Vltava River and the famous Charles Bridge.

1. Museums and Attractions
Most of the city's historic sights are found in the Old Town. Famous landmarks include the Charles Bridge, the Prague Castle, and the National Museum. Throughout the Old Town you'll see the spires of the many churches which define the city's skyline. The Prague Castle is not to be missed as it's the largest castle complex in the world.
2. Nightlife
The city has long been famous as a beer drinking capital, and although prices are higher than they once were, the fun is the same. The nightlife vibe is great any night of the week, but weekends tend to be the most active.
3. Music
The city has a long history of classical music, but rock, pop, and almost any other genre is popular here as well. Many visitors specifically come just to experience the world class music scene.
4. Historical Sights
Based around Old Town Square, this city has one of the most impressive old towns in the world. It truly feels like something out of a fairytale. Most of the tourists spend the majority of their time exploring the old town, and after a full day of wandering, you can cozy up with a strudel and a drink in one of the many cafes.
5. Shopping
There are many brand name stores in New Town, particularly around Wenceslas Square. In Old Town, Czech porcelain and Bohemia Crystal are popular things to buy. You'll find tons of souvenir and trinket shops throughout the area.

Autumn is the shoulder season for travel in Prague. This is an extremely touristy destination, so in the shoulder season you'll still see plenty of other tourists when you visit. However, good prices and deals are to be found on hotels and tours.

This is the low season for travel in Prague. This is an extremely touristy destination, so in the low season you'll still see plenty of other travelers when you visit, but less than other times of the year. Good deals are to be found on hotels and tours because it's not the best time of year to visit.
The weather in Prague can be quite cold during winter, and averages around 1°C (33°F). But be prepared for much lower temperatures, too.
You'll like that you can take public transit easily in the winter, too. You can get around quickly while avoiding bad weather if needed. During this season it's fun to experience the famous sights and museums, the historic old town, and the nightlife scene. Also, you'll be able to listen to some live music and soak up the big city atmosphere.

Things to Consider Before Visiting Prague
Food: Prague doesn't top the list for most foodies. The meals are hearty and filling. There's lots of stew and dumplings that make for a soothing meal on a cold winter day. Goulash is a favorite dish at most of the traditional restaurants around town.
