Sapporo is the capital and largest city on the northern island of Hokkaido, Japan. It's a relatively new city that dates back to 1857. Today it has a population of almost two million and it has impressive wide boulevards and a beautiful snow covered setting in the winter. Being a relatively "new" city in Japan, Sapporo has little in the way of traditional architecture, but it is a fun city to visit. In particular, people like to visit Sapporo during the Sapporo Snow Festival. This is the city's largest event and it is famous for its ice sculpture competition. The festival is centered around Odori Koen, which is in the center of town.

There are a handful of hostels around Sapporo. Although many hostels in the city aren't as social as you'd find elsewhere in Japan, they still provide an affordable and comfortable place to stay for budget travelers.

Time Peace Apartment is a favorite hostel in Sapporo for budget travelers and backpackers. It's located in a small house that has a lot of charm and character. It's also located conveniently close to the center of the city and is just a ten minute walk from the downtown area. It's a five minute walk from the closest subway station (Hosui Susukino Exit 6) and is two subway stops from the JR Sapporo Station.

The hostel has several great amenities available for guests including a complimentary breakfast with toast, coffee, and tea, free internet access, security lockers, laundry facilities, luggage storage, and bicycles for rent. There is no kitchen available for guests.

This hostel has no private rooms available but there are six and eight bed dorms. The six bed dorms are female only and the eight bed dorms are co-ed.

This hostel has a wonderful atmosphere with friendly staff. It's a nice place to hang out and chat with other guests and staff members and it will quickly feel like your home away from home.

Khaosan Sapporo Family Hostels is one of the most popular hostels in Sapporo, Japan. It's conveniently located about a five or ten minute walk from the city center and there's a bus stop for Chitose Airport Bus near by if you're here for a stopover. It's also close to many different tourist attractions and there are many great restaurants in the area.

This is a clean and comfortable place to stay with friendly staff. There's a shared kitchen that guests can use and a nice common area where you can hang out. The hostel has a fun and friendly atmosphere and it's easy to meet other travelers here. If you're looking for a reasonably priced place to stay that has a lot to offer, then this is a good option.

There are twin, double, three bed, four bed, five bed, and six bed private rooms available. There are also four bed dorms that are either co-ed or female only.

It has dorms available that sleep up to six people and there are both female only and mixed rooms to choose from. There are shared bathrooms and a good security system. There is no curfew but lights go out at midnight.

There are a variety of amenities available to guests including car parking for a fee, bicycle rental, laundry facilities, and a light complimentary breakfast.

This is a relaxing and friendly place to stay. The staff are friendly and the hostel is comfortable and clean. There's also a full shared kitchen which guests can use, a lounge area where many guests enjoy relaxing, and smoking area. Free internet is available as well.

This hostel is conveniently located in Sapporo, Japan. It's located in the city center and is about a ten minute walk from Susukino Subway station. It's accessible to anything you might want to see and do.

The hostel has twin private rooms and twelve bed dorms that are quite comfortable. All of the beds are with double sized mattresses and they are surprisingly comfortable. Each bed also has a power outlet and desk light, and rooms are equipped with high speed internet.

Although there's a bar on the first floor, this hostel isn't the most social place to stay (despite it's name). It can be a bit difficult to meet other guests, but it is affordable, comfortable, and well located. The staff is also super friendly.
