The Yellow Submarine Reef Tour

By backpackguru on Nov 8, 2011 in Entertainment
The Yellow Submarine is a great place for someone who wants to see the undersea world without actually snorkeling or scuba diving. It's a great excursion that takes about one hour and allows you to travel through the St. Barts marine reserve, which makes up most of the water around the island. You'll get a great view of a ship wreck that is located across from the port of Gustavia and the stunningly colorful reef that is just beside the port entrance. During the tour you'll have the opportunity to see all kinds of undersea wildlife including sharks, turtles, eels, ray, and of course, countless tropical fish. If you've never spent time on a reef, and you're hesitant to try your hand at snorkeling, this is definitely the way to go.

The Isolated Beach

By backpackguru on Nov 8, 2011 in Entertainment
You can head to this isolated beach and enjoy its stunning beauty. The water is surrounded by a nice reef that makes for wonderful swimming and snorkeling. On occasion you may have an opportunity to see the island's famous parrot fish and resident sea turtles. The beach itself is quiet and peaceful, and does not attract large crowds. There is some shade as well to escape what can sometimes be a harsh Caribbean sun. You can view the bay from here and see the fishing boats there.

Things to Do

By backpackguru on Nov 8, 2011 in Entertainment
Like any other Caribbean destination, there are countless ways to stay entertained in and around Corossol. There are so many water sports and adventurous thrills you can have, nobody could ever be bored. Alternatively, if you want nothing more than to relax at the beach, that is always an option as well. But if you want to get out and do something consider heading out on the water for some deep sea fishing. It's a great excuse to see the Caribbean from the water even if you don't catch anything. But there is always the possibility that you'll catch something good. It's possible to hook anything from a marlin, sailfish, or tuna on the end of you line. Not the fishing type? Take a sailing course, or learn to surf. There are plenty of eager vendors ready to teach you a new skill.
