Expert Advice from Local Travelers

We're asking our community members and registered users to contribute their experiences about Basel.

Why would you recommend Basel to budget travelers? Or, why not?

Many trains pass through Basel, so we've passed through a couple of times. It's more affordable than many Swiss cities, but still more expensive than most of Europe. If you want to visit Switzerland without the extremely high costs, then this is a good stop off, but it won't let you experience the Alps like you will in other places.

Honestly, if you have limited time in Switzerland, I'd skip this city and head to some of the more iconic destinations.

It's Switzerland, so it's expensive, but it's not as expensive as many Swiss cities.
