Koh Lanta is an island destination in Thailand off of the Andaman Coast. It's a popular place to visit if you want to enjoy nice beaches or scuba diving. The area actually has several islands with the largest two being Koh Lanta Noi and Koh Lanta Yai. Most of the tourist amenities and activities are concentrated on Koh Lanta Yai, which is six kilometers wide and 30 kilometers long. There are nine beaches along the sunset coast and the area is popular with a more mellow crowd than nearby Koh Phi Phi. It's not as party centric as some places in Thailand, but there is still no shortage of bars and plenty of partying to do if you know where to look.

There are three main tourist seasons in Koh Lanta. Peak season is from late December through January. The high season is during November and February, and the low season is from May to October. Prices are significantly cheaper during the low season and reservations are not necessary. It's really easy to find accommodation once you arrive. If you're traveling during the peak season, it might be best to make reservations in advance as places do sometimes fill up.
