Things to Consider Before Visiting Koh Pha Ngan
Museums and Attractions: Koh Pha Ngan isn't a place that's filled with a huge number of sights and attractions. Visitors come of the natural beauty, outdoor sports, and hardcore parties more than the sights and museums. Kuan Yin Temple is worth visiting, as is Wat Pho and Wat Phu Khao Noi.
Shopping: Koh Pha Ngan isn't exactly a shopper's destination. Although shopping isn't particularly popular on the island, it does offer a unique opportunity to support individual shop owners as there are more independently owned vendors on this island than in many other areas. Head to the markets and you'll find the most independent shops to support.
Lots of Tourists
Koh Pha Ngan sees a high number of visitors every year, which means you might have to wait in line and deal with large crowds during your visit.
Not As Family-Friendly
While there are some family activities, it's not as child-friendly as other destinations.
Not As Romantic
For couples, this destination does not have a great vibe for romance compared to other places.
Getting Around
The area is not very walkable, and public transit is not great here, so it might be difficult to get around without arranging your own transportation.

Expert Advice from Local Travelers
We're asking our community members and registered users to contribute their experiences about Koh Pha Ngan.
Why would you recommend Koh Pha Ngan to budget travelers? Or, why not?
Everything is pretty cheap except for drinks, which can get expensive. But I guess we were here to party so it all works out with our cheaper food and hotel.
What makes Koh Pha Ngan a budget-friendly destination? Or not?
There's so much to do here other than the full moon party. We visited lots of the amazing beaches which are all free of course. The food was cheap in most places, and we found some cheaper snorkeling and island tours, too.
We loved that the restaurants and hotels were all pretty cheap here. And lounging on the beach or snorkeling off the shore was free. It was also pretty cheap for the 2 of us to rent scooters to get around most of the island (but stick to the safe roads!).
How can you save money during your time in Koh Pha Ngan?
The best thing you can do is book a cheap place in advance for the full moon party. Good hostels and hotels were filling up so we got something a bit further away for a cheaper price.
