The beautiful beaches await you in Wollongong, so spend the day (or several, if you can) relaxing on the sand or swimming in the water. There are urban beaches, as well as more hidden coastal areas that attract locals and visitors alike. In the heart of the city you'll find North Wollongong Beach and Wollongong City Beach, both of which have picnic areas and are popular with locals.

The public transit in Wollongong is fast and efficient. Over the course of a few days, you should be able to explore the coastal city quite easily and affordably. There's a free Gong shuttle bus that travels around the city center. It runs a loop from Wollongong Station to Wollongong University in both directions. There are also other bus services in town.
