A great hostel for hikers
Overall Rating:
82%
HI Mt Edith Cavell rests under the towering 3,363-metre peak of Mt. Edith Cavell. The hostel is set in a narrow valley. Aside from easy access to breath-taking views of the Angel Glacier and the Cavell Meadows, HI-Mount Edith Cavell is the perfect base to start backcountry hikes into the Tonquin Valley. This is a wilderness hostel with limited creature comforts - no running water, no showers, and no flush toilets. They do provide purified water for cooking, a refrigerator, propane stoves and lights. It is important to note that in the winter (Oct to May) the ROAD UP TO THE HOSTEL IS CLOSED, guests will be required to hike, ski, or snowshoe up to the hostel from the highway, which is approximately 11 km. A membership with hosteling international is required to avoid an additional fee. Linens towels, and parking are all included with your stay
