Is Vancouver worth visiting?

Yes, Vancouver is definitely worth visiting for numerous reasons. Its a city that everyone should see, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. During our first trip to Vancouver in 2017, we fell in love with its many public parks and outdoor atmosphere. We've been back several times since then to experience it even more.

Whether you're a traveling as a family, a couple, or a backpacker, this city has a lot to offer. Any local will tell you what makes it special is the great museums & sights and amazing hiking.

Vancouver is a popular Canadian city on the west coast. It has a spectacular setting between the Pacific Ocean and the mountains. It's also a diverse city with a vibrant Asian population and many great restaurants. Visitors enjoy the cultural opportunities that the city offers, but also appreciate the opportunities to get out into nature in the surrounding areas.

5 Reasons to Visit Vancouver

1. Museums & Sights

There are tons of museums and sights around town such as the Vancouver Aquarium, the Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of Vancouver, and Science World. Also make sure you take a walk over the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

2. Hiking

The city is surrounded by water and mountains, making it one of the best hiking cities in the world. You don't have to go far to enjoy spectacular vistas, serene rainforests, and rugged coastline. The trails range from casual strolls to more strenuous day long hikes.

3. Shopping

The shopping is as diverse as the city itself. You can enjoy strolling through Chinatown, hitting up a public market, or wandering around a large shopping mall.

4. Food

You'll find diverse restaurants and fresh ingredients. Local seafood is a staple in many restaurants so make sure you try the prawns, salmon, and even sea urchin. Asian food is also excellent around town. Sushi, Japanese hot dogs, and dim sum are all worth sampling.

5. Nightlife

The city has a vibrant nightlife scene. Most of the activity is centered around The Granville Entertainment District in the downtown area. It runs along Granville Street between Robson Street and Davie Street. In the area you'll find a high concentration of bars and nightclubs.

What makes Vancouver a budget-friendly destination? Or not?

We spent most of our time exploring the city, so we didn't spend a ton on entertainment. The neighborhoods and parks a fun to wander around and we ate in Chinatown which was excellent.

Is Vancouver worth visiting in the Summer?

The high season for travel in Vancouver is the summer, so expect to see more tourists than usual. This destination is quite touristy, so in the high season it's busier than usual. You'll see larger crowds and longer lines, as well as higher prices. On the other hand, there's plenty to see and do at this time of year because everything is open.

You'll find the weather to be very nice here during summer with average temperatures around 18°C (64°F).

The nearby hiking this time of year is a must-do, so take some time to get out on the trails, take in some fresh air, and enjoy the scenery. The activities of the city are numerous, and this is a great time of year to explore all of them. From family-friendly attractions to romantic getaways, as well as budget-friendly things to do, there's something for everyone. Famous landmarks, museums, tours, and more are all available. You'll also find it quite easy to get around on foot, because this is a very walkable city, especially in the nice weather. During this season it's fun to experience the hiking, the museums and landmarks, and the big city activities. Also, you can experience the nightlife.

Keep in mind that it can be fairly rainy during autumn, and temperatures hover around 11°C (51°F).

Autumn is the shoulder season for travel in Vancouver, which means slightly less visitors than in the peak season. This destination is quite touristy, so in the shoulder season you'll still come across plenty of touriss. However, the prices tend to be a little cheaper.

Autumn is a great time of year to explore the numerous museums and landmarks around town. They are fun for the whole family as well great for couples. This is a great time of year to take in the beautiful scenery, wander through the museums, and enjoy the city's energy. Also, you can go hiking.

Winter is the low season for travel in Vancouver. This destination is quite touristy, but in the low season you'll see fewer crowds and much better prices.

The weather in Vancouver can be quite cold during winter, and averages around 4°C (40°F). But be prepared for much lower temperatures, too.

You'll like that you can take public transit easily in the winter, too. You can get around quickly while avoiding bad weather if needed. You'll find plenty to do during winter, as you'll be able to browse through museums, taste delicious cuisine, and grab some drinks at a bar. Also, you can check out the big city activities.
