The Northern Stelae Field

The Northern Stelae Field is one of the main sites in Aksum. The area has a good number of monolithic stelae in varying levels or ruin. Nobody knows exactly who or why they were built, but they are impressive in structure. The largest one has collapsed and lies, broken, on the ground. The next largest is still standing upright, but does lean. It's interesting to wander around, and there is a small museum with some interesting artifacts.
