We loved visiting Bergen and, yes, it's absolutely a city that any traveler should visit. By the end of our time here, it felt like a second home.

The city is also by the country's deepest and longest fjord, Sognefjord. In the compact city center you'll find wooden houses and interesting sights.

The city center is filled with specialty boutiques as well as larger department stores. Shopping has long been a large part of the economy and you'll enjoy exploring the diversity of retail options.

3. Food
The city's economy has long been centered around the fish trade and even today you'll find cod, shellfish, trout, and salmon on most menus. Sheep and mutton are also popular. Desserts and coffee are also a big part of the local culture.

It's a small city without a huge nightlife district, but there are bars and clubs in Bryggen and Old Bulls Plass. The city has enough students to keep things lively and fun.

Is Bergen worth visiting in the Summer?
Summer is the high season for travel in Bergen, so expect more visitors and higher prices. This destination is fairly touristy, and in the high season it's busier than usual.
Keep in mind that it can be fairly rainy during summer, and temperatures hover around 15°C (58°F).
You'll also find it quite easy to get around on foot, because this is a very walkable city, especially in the nice weather.
