Yes, Girona is worth visiting for a number of reasons. This is a city that everyone should explore, and we loved our time here. We first visited in the summer of 2023 and have returned several times. During our time here, we fell in love with its beautiful old town and colorful riverfront buildings.

Whether you're a a couple or a backpacker, this city has a lot to offer. Any local will tell you what makes it special is the great historical sights and amazing museums & sights.

Girona is a beautiful medieval city in the Catalonia region of Spain. It is filled with colorful buildings, particularly along the River Onyar and near the Eiffel Bridge. The city has an impressive cathedral as well as many ancient buildings and fascinating museums.

6 Reasons to Visit Girona

1. Historical Sights

It's a beautiful medieval old town with many wandering streets that are lined with storefronts and classic European cafes.

2. Museums & Sights

Wander the ancient city walls, explore the beautiful Girona Cathedral, and learn about the Church of Sant Feliu. There are also some interesting museums in town including the Museum of Jewish History, the Archaeology Museum, and the Film Museum. Also make sure you walk across the famed Eiffel Bridge.

3. Food

The small city is filled with cafes and restaurants that spill out into the street. There are also markets such as El LleĆ³ Marketplace where you can check out fresh, local items. Many restaurants also have Catalonian style tapas, seafood such as octopus, and garlic shrimp. For breakfast, there are many pastry shops where you can enjoy a European breakfast.

Many people skip over this city, but there are a many cheap hotels and restaurants, with a great old town that you can explore.
