Yes, Geneva is worth visiting for a number of reasons. This is a city that everyone should explore, and we loved our time here. We first visited in the spring of 2022 and have returned several times. During our time here, we fell in love with its international and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Whether you're a traveling as a family or a couple, this city has a lot to offer. Any local will tell you what makes it special is the great shopping and amazing museums and attractions.
Geneva is an international city that sits on the tip of Lake Geneva. The nearby Alps offer a beautiful backdrop to the modern city. Geneva is also home to the headquarters of the United Nations, and you'll find many international residents as well as diverse restaurants and neighborhoods.

1. Shopping
Famous for its posh shops and luxury brands, this city is a popular shopping destination. From chic boutiques to deluxe toy stores, you'll find something for everyone. In particular, the city is known for its Swiss watches, Swiss Army knives, chocolate, and wine.
2. Museums and Attractions
Famous sights and landmarks include the spectacular Water Jet, St Pierre Cathedral, and the Palais des Nations. There are also impressive art and history museums in the city.

The high season for travel in Geneva is the summer, so expect to see more tourists than usual. This destination is somewhat touristy, so in the high season it's usually busier.
The warm weather in summer is one of the reasons people visit at this time of year. Temperatures average around 22°C (71°F) with daily high temperatures often more than 28°C (82°F).
The activities of the city are numerous, and this is a great time of year to explore all of them. Why would you recommend Geneva to budget travelers? Or, why not?
I love the international atmosphere in Geneva! It's very different than most Swiss cities, and it's also a bit more affordable.
It was quite expensive here. We did our best to save money but our hotel was pricey and the food at restaurants were too. You can eat fast food to save money. There are some good free things to see such as the historic part of the city, the old churches, free museums, the botanical garden, and the lake. So we spent a lot on some things like our hotel but other stuff was free to make up for it.
We passed through Geneva and enjoyed visiting the lake. We also ate so much chocolate!
What makes Geneva a budget-friendly destination? Or not?
I loved the international restaurants in Geneva. Most aren't too expensive either.
How can you save money during your time in Geneva?
This is one of the more affordable cities in Switzerland, but you should still be prepared for higher prices than most places in Europe.
