Yes, Boston is worth visiting for a number of reasons. This is a city that everyone should explore, and we loved our time here. We first visited in 2010 and have returned several times. During our time here, we fell in love with its iconic history and beautiful neighborhoods such as Back Bay and Beacon Hill.

Whether you're a traveling as a family, a couple, or a backpacker, this city has a lot to offer. Any local will tell you what makes it special is the great museums and amazing historical sights.

Boston feels like a living museums with many historical sights that are integral in the founding of the United States. You can follow the Freedom Trail, which takes you through many highlights of the city. Boston also has many beautiful parks, charming townhomes, and a proud and enthusiastic local population. There's a large student population due to the many world-class universities in the area. There are also many popular sports teams.

8 Reasons to Visit Boston

1. Museums

The city itself feels like a living museum. It is famous for Faneuil Hall, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabelle Stewart Gardner Museum, the USS Constitution, as well as the many sites along the Freedom Trail. There are also many museums on the campuses of the world renowned universities in the city.

2. Historical Sights

Boston is famous for its Freedom Trail, which takes visitors around the city's rich history. The oldest parts of the city are known as Boston Proper and include the neighborhoods of Beacon Hill, Historic Downtown, the North End, and the West End.

3. Theatre Productions

The city has many historic, beautifully restored theaters where you can enjoy a show. Head to the theater district for some of the most famous venues.

4. Food

There are many local dishes that utilize fresh caught seafood and comfort food flavors. The cuisine also takes advantage of the city's Italian and Irish populations. Famous local foods include New England Clam Chowder, lobster rolls, and baked beans. You'll find hearty sandwiches and filling meals that warm your soul.

5. Nightlife

The city is known for its breweries, craft beer, and vibrant university neighborhoods. It also hosts regular outdoor movies and world class sporting events. I love how many students are in Boston. Because there are so many universities and so many students, there are tons of cheap places to grab food or hang out.

What makes Boston a budget-friendly destination? Or not?

We loved the park areas in the center of the city and explored the historical buildings, but they were probably the only thing that was cheap in the city. The aquarium, boat rides, shows, and restaurants were all expensive for our trip.
