Is Hershey worth visiting?

This town is a good place to visit for two to three days. Hershey is a popular resort town that's not far from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It's filled with lighthearted attractions that are mostly based on the town's history as the home of the Milton Hershey's chocolate factory. Today there's an amusement park and several museums that are entertaining and fun for kids of all ages. We first visited in 2007 and have returned several times. During our time here, we fell in love with playful energy and childlike fun.

Reasons to Visit Hershey

Resorts
There are a few of resorts affiliated with Hersheypark including a lodge, a hotel, and even camping.

Museums
In addition to Hershey's Chocolate World, there's the Hershey Story Museum, the Hershey Historic Center, and the Pennsylvania State Police Museum. There's also the AACA Museum (a car museum).

Shopping
You'll find shops, boutiques, and plenty of Hershey apparel that you can pick up in town.

Is Hershey worth visiting in the Summer?

The high season for travel in Hershey is the summer, so expect to see more tourists than usual. This destination is very popular with tourists, and in the high season it's even busier than usual as this is when most people like to visit. Expect tourist crowds to be very large, and prices to be higher than normal. However, there's plenty to do here this time of year, too.

The warm weather in summer is one of the reasons people visit at this time of year. Temperatures average around 25°C (77°F) with daily high temperatures often more than 31°C (87°F).

During this season it's fun to experience the famous sights and museums and the resorts.

Is Hershey worth visiting in the Autumn?

You'll find the weather to be very nice here during autumn with average temperatures around 13°C (56°F).

Autumn is the shoulder season for travel in Hershey, which means slightly less visitors than in the peak season. This is an extremely touristy destination, so in the shoulder season you'll still see plenty of other tourists when you visit. However, good prices and deals are to be found on hotels and tours.

This is a great time of year to browse the museums.

Is Hershey worth visiting in the Winter?

Winter is the low season for travel in Hershey. This is an extremely touristy destination, so in the low season you'll still see plenty of other travelers when you visit, but less than other times of the year. Good deals are to be found on hotels and tours because it's not the best time of year to visit.

The weather in Hershey can be quite cold during winter, and averages around -1°C (30°F). But be prepared for much lower temperatures, too.

You'll find plenty to do during winter, as you'll be able to spend time at the museums.

Is Hershey worth visiting in the Spring?

This is the shoulder season for travel in Hershey. This is an extremely touristy destination, so in the shoulder season you'll still see plenty of other tourists when you visit. However, good prices and deals are to be found on hotels and tours.

You'll find the weather to be very nice here during spring with average temperatures around 12°C (53°F).

During this season it's fun to experience shopping and the museums and landmarks.

Things to Consider Before Visiting Hershey

Food: Hershey doesn't top the list for most foodies. Restaurants range from casual to fine dining, and many have a very family-friendly atmosphere.

Nightlife: Most people don't associate Hershey with a lively nightlife scene. Head to downtown Harrisburg for the best nightlife. You'll find some bars and casino's in the area.

Lots of Tourists
Hershey sees a high number of visitors every year, which means you might have to wait in line and deal with large crowds during your visit.

Getting Around
The area is not very walkable, and public transit is not great here, so it might be difficult to get around without arranging your own transportation.

The Cost
