Is Islamorada worth visiting?

This village is a good place to visit for four to seven days. During our first trip to Islamorada in 2005, we fell in love with the striking blue water and opportunities to experience local marine life. We've come back several times since then to experience it even more. Islamorada includes six different keys and is filled with parks, nature centers, and a local flair. The area has snorkeling and diving, as well as tropical forest and geological landmarks. Visitors should head to Theater of the Sea as well as several of the historic and botanical parks.

Reasons to Visit Islamorada

Food
Has a sports fishing destination, you'll find no shortage of seafood options in the area. There are cafes and bistros that have an old school Florida Key's atmosphere. Popular dishes include grilled fish and curry seafood.

Beaches
Blue water and white sand make the beaches a true paradise. Favorite beaches in the area include Anne's Beach, which has a boardwalk and mangroves, Library Beach, which is small and well maintained, Holiday Isle Beach, which is near the hotels and restaurants, and Long Key State Park, which has camping and picnic spots.

Museums
There are a variety of museums and aquariums in the area such as the History of Diving Museum, the Keys History and Discovery Center, and the famous Theater of the Sea.

Nightlife
The nightlife consists of mostly bars and restaurants that serve cocktails and frozen drinks. There are sports bars and casual eateries where you can enjoy a drink in a relaxed atmosphere.

Resorts
You'll find plenty of resorts with spas, pools or oceanfront views in the area.

Scuba Diving & Snorkeling
There are plenty of dive shops that offer snorkeling and dive trips to the surrounding areas. You could also grab a mask and head out into the water on your own. You're sure to see some beautiful marine life.

Shopping
You'll find a few jewelry boutiques as well as sporting goods shops and souvenir stands.




Is Islamorada worth visiting in the Summer?

This is the shoulder season for travel in Islamorada. This destination is quite touristy, so in the shoulder season you can still find plenty of crowds, but better prices.

The warm weather in summer is one of the reasons people visit at this time of year. Temperatures average around 29°C (84°F) with daily high temperatures often more than 32°C (89°F).

With the warmer weather this time of year, the beach is the main attraction. Spend time enjoying the waves and sand during your trip. During this season it's fun to experience the beaches, the museums and landmarks, and the resorts. Also, you can experience the nightlife.

The weather in Islamorada is fairly warm during autumn, and stays around 27°C (80°F). But it can get as warm as 29°C (84°F) at times, too. It's also quite rainy during this season, so be prepared.

The low season for travel in Islamorada is during the autumn. This destination is quite touristy, but in the low season you'll see fewer crowds and much better prices.
