Is Tampa worth visiting?

Yes, it's worth visiting this city for two to three days because of the many great activities. During our first trip to Tampa in the spring of 2012, we fell in love with its authentic atmosphere and proximity to great beaches. We've come back several times since then to experience it even more. Tampa is located on Florida's Gulf Coast and it's the home of Busch Gardens and several wildlife parks. Many visitors are passing through as they catch a cruise, but for those that linger, they'll find a good food scene and some interesting museums. It's often mentioned as one of the best places to visit in major publications, such as in Time Magazine's World's Greatest Places in 2023.

Beaches
Popular beaches near Tampa include Ben T. Davis Beach, Fred Howard Park, and Indian Rocks Beach.

Food
There are a surprising number of great local restaurants around town as well as a good food truck scene. Some favorite dishes include fresh caught seafood, Grouper sandwiches, and Cuban sandwiches.

Authenticity
Tampa has an authentic vibe where you can experience local culture, cuisine, and activities without the large tourist crowds of other popular destinations.




Is Tampa worth visiting in the Summer?

Summer is the high season for travel in Tampa, so expect more visitors and higher prices. Even though this destination is not very touristy, in the high season it's busier than usual because this is when most visitors come here. Summer is a hot but fun time to explore Tampa.

The weather in Tampa is fairly warm during summer, and stays around 28°C (82°F). But it can get as warm as 33°C (91°F) at times, too. It's also quite rainy during this season, so be prepared.

Visiting the nearby beaches is one of the most popular things to do this time of year, so spend some time enjoying the waves and sand. You'll find plenty to do during summer, as you'll be able to lounge on the beach and discover the big city activities.

Things to Consider Before Visiting Tampa

Nightlife: Most people don't associate Tampa with a lively nightlife scene. The city has some good nightclubs, sports bars, and other spots where locals enjoy spending the evening.

Getting Around
The area is not very walkable, and public transit is not great here, so it might be difficult to get around without arranging your own transportation.
