Wombats City Hostel Vienna - The Lounge

The Wombat's Hostel chain is well known throughout Europe for their on-site bar the Wombar. If you're looking to socialize and meet other guests, then this is the place to go. They have nightly activities and happy hours, so it stays pretty busy, particularly during the peak seasons.

This is a large hostel with a professional staff, large rooms, and nice amenities. It's a reliable chain with a good reputation, and this branch is no exception. The location is convenient for the train station and shopping, but i bit outside of the city center. There's easy access by public transportation though, so this really isn't a problem.

Wombat's offers four, six, and eight bed dorms that are either co-ed or female only. The rooms are large and comfortable and they stay surprisingly quiet given the large size of the hostel. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, security lockers for guests, and some basic furniture. Linens are included.
Private Rooms

The hostel also has private rooms that are great for couples or small groups of friends who are traveling together. The rooms range in size and include single rooms, twin rooms, double rooms, triple rooms, and quad rooms. The rooms are basic but comfortable with a decent amount of space. It's the perfect option if you want the amenities, setting, and affordability of a hostel but the privacy of a hotel room.
Bathrooms
This hostel has en-suite bathrooms that are in decent condition. Some guests feel they could be cleaned more frequently, but the hot water is reliable.
Bar
The Wombat's chain is famous for it's WomBar, or on-site bar, which can be found at every location. The bar is active and fun with good drink specials and nightly activities. It's a popular place for guests to hang out, particularly during the peak travel seasons when there are plenty of people hanging around. If you're traveling alone, this is definitely the place to go to meet other guests.
Common Areas
In addition to the bar, there is common space where guests can relax on a comfortable sofa, enjoy a good book, or take advantage of the hostel's Wi-Fi (it works best in the common areas). This is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring the city.

This Wombat's Hostel is located near the Westbahnhof Train Station (less than a five minute walk) and on the city's longest and most popular shopping street, Mariahilferstrasse. In the area there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops. There are also grocery stores and supermarkets nearby.

The main tourist sights in the city center are most accessible by metro. You can hop on metro line U3 and access many of Vienna's most impressive sights in just minutes.

This hostel is conveniently close to the Westbahnhof Train Station and very close to metro stations, which provide access to the city center. The closest metro station is Westbahnhof Metro Stop, which is on line U3 and line U6.

Heads Up

Wombats is a favorite hostel chain in Europe. However, for some guests the large size means the atmosphere isn't great. Some guests also complain that this branch isn't cleaned as frequently as some of the other branches, but most guests still enjoy everything that Wombats has to offer.
