We went on a trip around the world, and we kept a meticulous budget in a spreadsheet. We thought it would be good to be able to breakdown all of our expenses by category and location. Then, we thought that this would be a great idea for a website! Travelers could keep track of their spending, and other future travelers could see how much stuff costs around the world.
Once you sign up on the site, you can create a trip and enter your daily expenses. Your budget will then be broken down by category and location, and displayed with charts and tables. Then, you can find out if you’re sticking to that strict daily budget you set for yourself, or if your food or transportation spending is higher than souviniers or accomodation.
Furthermore, the travel expenses entered by current travelers can be used to estimate the costs of a trip for future travelers. Visitors to the site can search for the average daily costs of accomodation, food, and numerous other categories for cities and countries around the world. If you’re planning a trip to Thailand or Europe, you can estimate how much your daily budget will be for transporation, entertainment, or anything else. So long as past travelers have spent time (and money) in a place, you can find out the average costs.
