1. Kenya: From the Safari to the Sea
Approximate Time: 2 weeks
Nairobi - Masai Mara - Lake Nakuru - Nairobi - Tsavo National Park - Mombasa
Most visitors to Kenya are interested in a Safari. Therefore, after visiting Nairobi for a day or two, head to Masai Mara, the premier Safari destination in Kenya. Here you will have the opportunity to see all of the major African animals including elephants, zebra, giraffes, lions, wildebeest, hippos, rhinos, cheetahs, gazelle, and a variety of birds. Lake Naivasha is an ideal next stop, where you can view hippos in the shallow waters. Next, travel to Lake Nakuru, a shallow lake which is home to thousands of flamingos as well as other wildlife such as giraffes.
After passing back through Nairobi to stock up on some relaxation and delicious cuisine, head to Tsavo National Park in the South East of the country. In this park you can find a more desert landscape, but with plenty of typical African animals. Finally, head down to Mombasa to enjoy the coastal side of Kenya. Get out of the city to some of the surrounding beach areas. You'll be surprised at their beauty along side the vibrant local culture.
