1. Lake Victoria to Zanzibar with a Safari
Approximate Time: 2 weeks
Musoma - Serengeti National Park - Arusha - Dar es Salaam - Zanzibar
To start your adventure in Tanzania, head to the Northwestern area of the country to visit Lake Victoria. Musoma is a nice place to spend a few days exploring the area. From here you can head Southeast towards the world-famous Serengeti National Park, Maswa Game Reserve, and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Together, these 3 areas are home to all of the typical African animals such as lions, elephants, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, gazelle, wildebeest, rhinos, and more. Plan to spend at least a few days out here, as this is probably the main reason you came to visit Tanzania, after all!
Next head to Arusha to visit nearby Kilimanjaro. Even if you don't plan to hike up the mountain, there are plenty of other activities in and around the park.
Dar es Salaam is the next stop, and this bustling city will make you feel alive with energy. From world-class cuisine to the vibrant local culture, this amazing city offers something for everyone.
Finally, Zanzibar is next on the agenda. This historical and beautiful town on the coast has both exotic beauty, local flavor, gorgeous beaches, and a small-town atmosphere. It's not to be missed if you're in country. Keep in mind that Tanzania is not all about Safaris!
