Top 5: Best Beaches In The World

Lazing around on a beach, swaying back and forth in a hammock and listening to the waves with nothing more than a book & a beer…is there anything better than that?! The routine of tan, swim, read, drink and repeat is so relaxing and so enjoyable that it’s hard to pull yourself away. We know that we haven’t seen every beach in the world. But, based on the ones we have seen, these are our favourites in terms of peacefulness, seclusion, colour of the sand, clearness of the water and the all around vibe.

Over Yonderlust: Erica and Shaun

As fellow citizens of Austin, Texas for the last year, we first met Shaun and Erica during the planning stages for Austin's Meet Plan Go event. We quickly learned that we had a lot in common, specifically a mutual love for travel. Not too long ago, Shaun and Erica made their dreams a reality: they quit their jobs, sold off most of their stuff, and took the road south from the U.S.A. with no plans to come home anytime soon. It sounds pretty incredible, especially since they gave up dream jobs working for a popular video game company. But now they are wandering through Honduras, living the long-term travel dream.

Beijing is a masterpiece of human culture. We spent about two weeks in the city, fell in love with it, and watched the old mix with the new. Residents bike up and down the hutong alleyways while new cars zip along the wide boulevards past rising skyscrapers. We've all heard that China is growing at a phenomenal pace, but you have to see it in person to fully understand the transformation. Here are some photos from our recent travels in this amazing city.

Photo Friday: Sinai

The Sinai Peninsula of Egypt is truly a fascinating place. During our time in the area, we spent a few days near Mt. Sinai and a few more relaxing on the coast of the Red Sea. First, our journey took us from Cairo on a fairly long bus ride to the town of Katreen, near the base of Mt. Sinai and St. Katherine's Monastery. We slept at a small Bedouin camp and met some other travelers who had hiked to the top of the mountain the night before, starting at 2:00 in the morning. Supposedly this was the best time to hike in order to avoid the heat and also see the sunset from the top of the mountain.

Photo Friday: Southern Ethiopia

The theme of this week's Photo Friday is Southern Ethiopia. This is part of my personal effort to convince as many people as possible to visit Africa. After spending several months on the continent, we realized that we had only experienced a drop in the bucket. Africa is so huge and diverse that it would take years to fully understand all of the cultures, history, tragedy, and beauty that this immense land has to offer.
