Young & Happy Latin Quarter by Hiphophostels

With an all-around great list of features and personality, this hostel is quite popular with budget travelers. They only have dorms, which means that it can be fairly social. They have a bar that provides some entertainment, and the kitchen area is always full of guests making meals which can lead to some great new friends. The location in the Latin Quarter is also nice, which means you're in the middle of the city close to many things (and the metro can take you anywhere else). Overall, this hostel has a great rating from thousands of past reviewers.

The Facilities

Dorms

The dorms are clean and fun. They come in a variety of sizes from 4 beds up to 8 beds. An all-female room is available, too. Some of the dorms have ensuite bathrooms, while others use the shared bathrooms on the halls. The rooms have small lockers for valuables, but they are not large enough for a bag or suitcase. However, lockers elsewhere in the hostel can hold luggage if needed.

Large windows provide plenty of natural light, too. While some of the rooms are a little small, this is typical of Paris.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms are modern and the staff does a good job to keep them clean. The showers and other fixtures are new and modern.

Common Areas

The common areas provided by this hostel have some tables and chairs which are mainly for meals and chatting with other guests. While this is a smaller hostel, the common areas are just the right size for the number of guests. The shared kitchen is a nice place to meet up with other travelers and make plans to see Paris.

Latin Quarter / 5th Arr.

This historic Parisian neighborhood is just south of the river, centrally located, and full of museums, cathedrals, shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, and more.

What's Nearby?

Near the hostel are plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, and more. This is the heart of Paris, and from here you can walk to many sights and attractions such as Notre Dame, the Pantheon, and the Louvre. Of course, you can always take the metro. Several large parks are nearby, including the Luxembourg Gardens and Palace, and the Jardins des Plantes. Perhaps the biggest draw is that everything is equidistant from this hostel, and nothing is too far even though Paris is a huge city.

Nearby Transportation

The closest metro station, Place Monge, is only 2 blocks away. From here you can zip into the heart of the city or anywhere else around town in minutes.

With a nice list of amenities, the Young & Happy Latin Quarter hostel is a very comfortable place to stay. They have laundry and wi-fi, and offer a breakfast in the kitchen for a small fee. The self-catering kitchen will let you cook your own meals, too. And don't forget about the bar!

The staff is fun and friendly, and helps with any need you might have. They work hard to keep the hostel clean and keep everything organized.

Heads Up

Some guests say that the rooms are small, but it's very hard to find a place in Paris where the rooms are much larger.
