The Central House Barcelona Gracia

Rodamon Barcelona Hostel is a perfect combination of a boutique hotel-style facility with backpacker affordability. The hostel is one of a small chain of hostels found in several cities in Europe. Despite it's hotel like atmosphere, the hostel has plenty of common space where guests can sit back with a good book and relax before heading back to their room for the night. This is a nice alternative to the popular party hostels found around Barcelona, and if you've had your fill of drinking games and late night festivities, then this place offers the perfect alternative.

The staff are helpful and professional, the breakfast is affordable and filling, and the rooms are reliable and quiet, all for a backpacker's budget.

The Facilities

Dorms
Dorm Bed $39.34
This hostel has a wide variety of dorms that sleep 4, 6, 8, or 10 people. Most dorms are co-ed but there are 8 bed female-only dorms with an ensuite bathroom. The beds are all bunk beds and include a reading light, plug, and a blackout curtain for privacy. The furnishings in the rooms are simple but comfortable and there are security lockers where you can secure your belongs. Bring your own lock. Rooms are cleaned regularly and the air conditioning is reliable and kept at a comfortable temperature.
Private Rooms
Private Room $46.10
There are several private rooms to choose from if you want a bit of space to yourself. Most rooms are doubles or twins. Some rooms have bunk beds (which are just like the dorm rooms), while others have separate twin beds. For the nicest room, choose the superior double room which has a double bed, television, ensuite bathroom, excellent furnishings, and the best views.
Bathrooms
Most dorms use shared bathrooms which are modern and clean. The showers have reliable hot water, regardless of the time of day. The lights are on a timer, which some guests find inconvenient, but in general the bathrooms are clean and in good condition.

Some of the female dorms and private rooms have en-suite bathrooms. These rooms include towels, hairdryers, and any toiletries you might need.
Common Areas
Despite this hostel's hotel-like atmosphere, they have several large and comfortable common areas where guests enjoy relaxing. The main common room is decorated in a Nordic style and is the perfect place to read a book, enjoy a meal, or just relax after a busy day. There are large windows that let in plenty of natural light and comfortable seating where you can make yourself at home.

The main common area opens up onto a beautiful outdoor terrace. Many guests enjoy relaxing and soaking up the Mediterranean weather during their time here. There are outdoor sofas, beds, and tables where you can read or sip a coffee. Many guests choose to their breakfast or lunch outside to enjoy.

Another thing that sets this hostel apart from most hotels is the shared kitchen that guests can use. It's a modern kitchen with many supplies that you can use and it's perfect for preparing your own meal.

The Location

Eixample
The Eixample neighborhood is where the old world charms of the Gothic Quarter merge into modern Barcelona. Here, many famous museums and attractions can be found, as well as plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, churches, and other sights. Public transportation in this part of town is very common, and the streets are laid out in an orderly fashion, so it's hard to get lost.
What's Nearby?
Rodamon Barcelona Hostel is conveniently located in the heart of Barcelona next to the Palau Robert Gardens. It's housed in a beautiful 19th century building and is within a five minute walk of La Pedrera and the Egyptian Museum. There's a grocery store right next door to the hostel and many local restaurants nearby. If you're more the fast food type, there's a few options within a few blocks of the hostel including a McDonald's very close by.

Anything that's not walking distance to the hostel can be accessed by the metro. Plaza de Catalunya and Las Ramblas are two metro stops away and less than a ten minute ride. More things to do in Barcelona can be found here.
Nearby Transportation
This hostel is conveniently located just around the corner from the Diagonal metro station and Passeig de Gracia. Diagonal station is served by Lines 6 and 7 as well as subruban train lines S1, S2, S5 and S55. Plaza de Catalunya is a major transportation center and is just two metro stops away.

This hostel has all of the standard amenities including keycard access to the rooms, Wi-Fi, adapters, reading lights, a shared kitchen, and security lockers. The hostel feels safe and secure with 24 hour reception and luggage storage available. If you want a new book to read out on the terrace, there's a book exchange available. The staff here are professional and helpful. They're available 24 hours a day if you have any questions or concerns and are quick to address any problems. They keep the hostel very clean and they're upbeat and friendly so don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions or concerns. This isn't a hostel where the staff hang out with the guests, but they keep a friendly and professional relationship with all of the guests.

Heads Up

This is a quiet hostel with a hotel vibe so if you're looking for a social atmosphere this isn't it. The hostel doesn't really organize any group activities, but if you want help finding tours the staff can help you with any planning.
