I had an amazing time at this hostel. I booked it last minute without having made any plans and no regrets. The staff are amazing! The guests at the hostel were lovely and the atmosphere is great. If you're hoping to have easy access to the main amenities (laundry, common areas, kitchens, etc) then stay in a standard room as the basic rooms are in a separate building a short walk away.

Astor Museum Inn

Astor Museum Hostel is part of a small hostel chain. It's a social and fun hostel, but not a party hostel. The hostel's central location right by the British Museum really can't be beat. You can walk to many of London's most interesting neighborhoods and top sights. If you want to travel farther, there are several underground stations nearby.

The hostel is clean and comfortable, but has basic and very affordable rooms. The most basic rooms are located in a separate building just a short walk from the main building. The staff are friendly and fun, and they organize daily activities for guests including walking tours and pub crawls. There are also nightly dinners and breakfast available for a very small donation which goes to a local charity.

This hostel has a wide range of dorm sizes and types to choose from. There are dorms that sleep between 4 and 16 people, with everything in between available. The rooms are also divided into basic and standard rooms. The basic rooms give guests access to all of the same amenities and activities, but they're located in a separate building just a minute away. There's a telephone available that will connect you directly with the reception desk.
Private Rooms

For guests who want their own space, there are twin standard and basic rooms available. Like the dorms, the basic rooms are located in the separate building just a minute from the main building. The rooms have bunk beds and very basic furnishings.
Bathrooms
The bathrooms are in good condition, but like any shared facilities they can feel a bit used after a busy morning. The facilities are generally in good condition though.
Common Areas
This hostel has a variety of common spaces where you can hang out. There's a dining room where they serve breakfast and dinner every day. There's also a lounge area with sofas and a television. It's the perfect place to watch a movie or catch a sporting event. If you're hoping to save some money you'll really appreciate the shared kitchens (more than one) where you can cook up a meal or grab a bite to eat.
Outdoor Space
There's a small outdoor terrace with a table and benches. It's the perfect place to enjoy your meal on a nice day.

What's Nearby?
Located in central London right across from the British Museum, this hostel's location really can't be bit. The surrounding neighborhood is upscale and it's near many of the city's top tourist attractions. It's about a 10 minute walk to Oxford Street where you can enjoy some of the city's best shopping. It's also just 15 minutes from Leicester Square where you can check out a play in the theater district. In under 20 minutes you can walk to Soho, Piccadilly Circus, and Trafalgar Square. China Town is also easily accessible. This central location offers access to some of London's best neighborhoods, whether you want to try a trendy restaurant, check out a popular club, or see the most interesting attractions.
Nearby Transportation
Located in central London, this hostel is easily accessible to all types of public transit. There Holborn and Russell Square underground stations are nearby and Tottenham Court Road station is also walking distance.

Activities

The staff organize daily activities for guests that keep the atmosphere social and fun. During the day there are free walking tours that give you an informative overview to the city. At night you can head out to some of the city's best clubs during the pub crawl. Dinner and breakfast are available for a very small price which is all donated to charity. This is a great way to meet other guests and it feels good to know your money is being put to good use.

The staff here are friendly, fun, and outgoing. They organize all kinds of activities for guests and keep things casual and fun. They also organize the daily breakfasts and dinners that many guests enjoy.

Heads Up

The basic rooms are in a separate building which some guests found inconvenient. Some guests also feel the price is a bit high for the simplicity of the rooms, but the location really can't be beat.
