Plenty of Options

There are a surprisingly large variety of hotel options in Argentina, particularly in Buenos Aires. You can really find most accommodation options in Argentina that you would find elsewhere. Do remember that, unless you stay at a five star resort, hotel rooms are typically smaller in Argentina than they are elsewhere. Outside of the major cities, particularly in Patagonia, you'll find many lodges or cabins that are comfortable. There are also options for camping as well as homestay opportunities. Argentina has a well-developed tourism industry, and this in reflected in the hostel and hotel industry. Generally, you can expect high quality accommodation at reasonable prices. Most visitors are pleasantly surprised with the facilities that they book.
Look For Good Amenities

Argentina is a popular travel destination. It's a great backpacker destination with countless hostels spread throughout the country. These hostels are generally high in quality and are a great option for travelers hoping to save some money. Alternatively, you can find some great apartments for rent. They are usually equipped with a kitchen, allowing you to cook some of your own meals. This can dramatically cut down on your expenses and is a great option if you are staying in one place for an extended period of time or traveling with a larger group.
Something For Everybody

Argentina has a wide range of accommodation types. You can find a great network of student hostels that are generally high in quality and well run. These hostels are a great option for the large number of the backpackers that head to Argentina each year. Bed and breakfasts are a great way to stay at a locally run facility. They are a fun place to stay, particularly if you are out in rural areas and want to experience the countryside and rural communities. Within cities, if you're looking for a more unique experience, there are many boutique hotels you can choose from. These small, quaint hotels often have a great character, unique architecture, and are located in the city center, convenient to almost anything. In Patagonia there are many lake side lodges that are a great way to experience the stunning beauty of this region but still have the comforts of a nice place to sleep. There are cabins that are a little more rustic also available for rent throughout the region. Alternatively, you can camp, which is perhaps the best way to fully embrace surrounding environment and the stunning natural beauty that Argentina has to offer.
Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires offers the largest selection of accommodation types in Argentina. There are plenty of hostels, hotels and luxury facilities for visitors to the city. There are also countless apartments available for rent on a short term basis. You can find plenty of agencies that rent these apartments or you can go directly through the owner. Do keep in mind that many apartments work with many different agencies and sometimes the communication is not great. Apartment are sometimes not available despite appearing vacant on a website calender. Communicate directly with the agency to confirm that your apartment is available on the days you need it. Also keep in mind the photos can sometimes be misleading and the apartment may not be as well furnished, large, or quiet as it appears in the photo. Reserving after a face to face viewing is always a safer option.

There are several neighborhoods around the city that have a high concentration of hotels. In the San Telmo area, which is on the edge of the downtown, you will find most of the hostels and budget hotels. Palermo has the more boutique style hotels and the high end options. Recoleta is a posh residential area with many of the four and five star hotels and Puerto Madero is an old port area that has some chain hotels that are conveniently located near international restaurants and businesses.
Mendoza

Mendoza is a pleasant and livable city. Many visitors choose to spend some time here taking language classes or fully immersing themselves in the culture. Some of the most enjoyable parts of the city lie between Plaza Independencia and Park San Martin. This is a quiet area that has pleasant neighborhoods with many different bars and restaurants nearby in Aristes Villanueva. Many of the city's hostels are found to the east of the city centre in a more budget friendly area.

It's more challenging to find a short term apartment in Mendoza than it is in Buenos Aires. The ones that are available are often a lower quality in a less appealing part of town. They are often in short supply, but hotels and hostels are generally abundant. Be wary of any internet searches that show you nice pictures or comfortable looking apartments at cheap rates. These are often very misleading or completely inaccurate. If you do plan to book an apartment, make sure you see it in advance so you know what you're getting for your money. Always be sure and read plenty of reviews before making any sort of reservation. The quality of hotels and hostels can very dramatically, as can the location. Do a little research before you commit to a place to make sure you fully understand where you'll be staying. If you do the research you're sure to find a great place with wonderful amenities and easy accessibility to everything.
