Travel Tips for Turkey

Buses in Turkey

By wanderinggurl on Apr 20, 2010 in Intercity Transportation
Take the public buses in Turkey. They're wonderful, and often you get complimentary drinks and "kek" (cake), brought to you buy a steward. If ever there was a country where organized tours aren't necessary it's Turkey. Remember, all ticket prices are negotiable.

Head to Eastern Turkey

By backpackguru (Our Global Journey) on Oct 12, 2011
If you want to get of the beaten path, head towards Eastern Turkey. The scenery is more Middle Eastern and less European. The people are incredibly welcoming and friendly (typically of the Kurdish ethnicity) and the costs are far lower than the more popular Western Turkey areas.

Take a Flight

By backpackguru (Our Global Journey) on Nov 22, 2011 in Intercity Transportation
Turkey is a surprisingly large country, and despite its wonderful bus system, trips can often be uncomfortably long and are often overnight. If you're on a short trip, consider booking at least one flight so that you can make the most of your time in this incredible country. For the shorter trips, buses are definitely sufficient, but when traveling from Turkey further into Turkey, a flight will save you a lot of time and hassle.
