Australia is a dream destination for many travelers, in part because it offers so many diverse activities and things to see. From the beaches of the northeast coast to the Great Barrier Reef to the big cities of Sydney and Melbourne to the tropical northern area around Darwin to the "outback" destinations of the central regions, Australia offers something for everyone.
First and foremost, many travelers come to Australia by way of Sydney, and then head north to the beaches of the Gold Coast and other northern coastal areas. After visiting Sydney's world class sights and harbor, up on the coast you'll find snorkeling and diving, sailing and swimming, and of course hiking, trekking, biking, and more. Don't forget about the Blue Mountains and the vineyards throughout the Southeastern part of the country in Victoria and New South Wales.
Tasmania is another great destination, with plenty of fishing, hiking, and world class dining, too.
In the interior of Australia is the famous Uluru, or Ayers Rock. But it's not the only destination here, as various national parks await visitors to offer wildlife viewing and aboriginal cultural experiences in the bush.
If warm weather is what your after, head north to Darwin or Cairns where the rainforest meets the sea and then extends eastward into the Great Barrier Reef. Here, diving and snorkeling are great adventures, or travelers can take a sailboat or a helicopter ride for another different experience.
