The Main Plaza in Cachi
In the main plaza in town there is the Pio Pablo Diaz Archaeological Museum. Within in the museum is thousands of artifacts from over a ten thousand year period. Most of the pieces date back to around 800 BC or 1600 AD. There are impressive exhibits showing pictographs around the museum. The employees are very knowledgeable.
Also in the plaza are the Church of Chachi which was constructed in the 16th century. It is well recognized as a National Historical Monument. It's interesting to see because most of its beams, alters and confession booths are all carved from the porous wood of the cactus Echinopsis atacamensis.
