Travel Tips for United Kingdom

Research Your Rail Pass Options

By backpackguru (Photographic Voyage) on Nov 18, 2011 in Intercity Transportation
If you're going to be in the United Kingdom or Europe for any length of time look into buying a rail pass of some sort. there are really two main options in rail passes. The InterRail, for European Union citizens, and Eurail, for non EU citizens, passes are usually only valid for Northern Ireland. The Britrail pass is a decent option if you're purchasing online while you're out of the country. Do A LOT of research on each of these options however. Often it's cheaper to just buy as you go. Then you don't have to worry about add ons and supplements as well. There do seem to be hidden unexpected costs with each of these passes that you may not be prepared for.
